What do Liz Lemon, Shannon from Lost, Miley Cyrus, all 18 Duggars, and Anthony’s landscaper have in common? You guessed it, they’re all on this week’s episode – and they all showed up to hear the guys announce their next big project, The Two Gomers Specials. Actually, the landscaper was the only one actually there, and his leaf-blowing was so loud he didn’t hear anything, but whatever. Liz Lemon would have been there if she wasn’t so busy.
But it’s not just about the announcement – there’s also Week in Review, Running in the Media, two new Songs to Run To, and a listener-story-packed Listener Feedback.
This Week’s Survey: In preparation for our upcoming special episode, The Two Gomers Thanksgiving Special: Two Gomers Get Thankful, we’re asking you to get thankful, too. When it comes to running, what are you most thankful for? Let us know, and Happy Running!

Hi guys,
Although I haven’t commented in awhile, I have remained a faithful listener. I love the podcast!
First of all, thanks for mentioning me on the podcast. Oh, and for calling me a psycho ;). A couple of other little tips on the ice baths: 1) get in the water before you pour in the ice, it helps you acclimate to the change in temperature a little bit; 2) keep all of your running clothes on – you’re going to wash them anyway and it provides a buffer between you and the ice.
I also wanted to respond to your survey. I am most thankful for the fact that my body is so resilient. I struggled with anorexia for years and did terrible things to it, but it has bounced back enough to allow me to waddle through 3 half marathons and 2 full marathons (and counting!).
I’m also thankful for your podcast. You guys are so funny and inspiring! Keep it up!
The Left coast Gomers run at 8:30 A.M. On Saturdays
Location: Nike Store
5664 Bay St
Emeryville, CA, 94608
Shannon Rowbury an Olympic athlete will be the special guest on November 21 2009.
Hey if you think about it… having hot water in a thermos wont get hot on the outside (so it stays hot on the inside) … try using a hot water bottle and holding it next to your stomach whilst taking a cold bath for better results. ; )
I am thankful for many things that running has brought me. I am thankful for the sanity it has brought to my life. I am a worrier and I get stressed out easily. When I get home from a day at school where the kids were just off the wall, I go run. It lets me get out that pent up anger/frustration that I may be feeling. I’m thankful for that release. It’s way better than talking bad about my students to someone who may or may not care. I am thankful for the relationships that running has brought me. My sister lives in another state, but running is something that connects us….same with a dear friend who moved to another state to go to grad school. And for the superficial thing that I’m thankful for….my legs! They look awesome! I put on a pair of high heels and I want to date me!
Thanks for the podcast guys! It’s super funny and you inspire the rest of us gomers who are also a part of the “Unathletic people of America” club. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
If you guys want to run a marathon in DC, you should def do the Marine Corps marathon. Supposedly a perfect first marathon (or your second if you choose to run :)).
You two are absolutely hilarious and constantly give me so much beginner runner confidence so obvi, I’m thankful for your podcast. I am a beginner runner and plan on running the NY half marathon in March so your podcast seriously has given me a lot of inspiration and key pointers…and your Code Brown stories literally make me LOL wherever I may be listening. It’s usually on the subway so people think I’m EXTRA NY crazy. In addition to being thankful for your fabu podcast, I am just thankful that I am healthy and able enough to run when I can. We never know what’s going to happen in the future and we should get out there and run every day while we are able!
Thanks again you two Gomers. You keep me moving! Happy Thanksgiving! xoxo
Living in South Minneapolis, I’m often thinking about how awesome it is to be able to run in such a pedestrian friendly place. Minneapolis has a first rate park system, I live two blocks south of a creek that can take you all the way from the Mississippi River to Lake Minnetonka, and barely ever have to worry about cars. Lots of small lakes to run around, interconnected biking and running trails, etc. It might be a goofy thing to be thankful for, but I’m thankful for the urban planners who created such a great park system, and the Park & Rec board that maintains it!
For all of it’s faults, weaknesses, and injuries I am most thankful for my (relatively) healthy body. Every injury has translated to invaluable life lessons (don’t force, play nice, even God needed a day off). Every weakness is a challenge to learn and grow physically, mentally, and spiritually. I started running purely for fitness but it has become so much more than that. The body I once took for granted has become my greatest teacher.
Hey Gomers,
I’ve been meaning to comment for some time, but I wanted to get it just right! (so you would read it on the podcast)
I had to act when I heard you talking about annoying Miley Cyrus and then how much Stpehen hates Rachael Ray (I do too by the way).
If I were making a movie about the life of Rachael Ray, I would cast Miley Cyrus to play her…..RIGHT??? both round face, dark hair, annoying voice…I hate them both so much, I would have to watch it…
HA!

Great episode, fellas. I’m thankful my husband decided to start running with me. He’s never felt like he’s built for running, but it’s helped him slim down, and now he actually enjoys it — sometimes even craves running! On Sunday, we ran our first half-marathon. It was 75 degrees F with 94% humidity, and he still rocked a 3:19 finish. I’m so proud of him and thankful he tried something he thought he’d HATE. Best of all: he’s already looking ahead at other events we can do together.
I am thankful that running is an activity I can do no matter what old smelly clothes I’m wearing! It’s so wonderful to walk out of the house looking like a complete slob, and get away with it!
